Ticking to Perfection at MACH 2024; Demonstrating where the Time-Honoured Skills of Traditional Clock-making meet Modern Technology!

SolidCAM UK states that it validated its admission of being one of the most powerful CAM systems in the world at their stand at the ultimate showcase event; MACH 2024! The company welcomed hundreds of driven and awe-struck engineers from across the country, who were impressed with the superiority of the UK based company’s latest technological advancements and dedicated training, post processor, support and consultancy service promises. It was no surprise to the organisation, that one particular part on their stand, would “hands” down create a stir.

Customer Sinclair Harding (UK) Ltd kindly displayed one of their refined clocks on SolidCAM UK’s stand throughout the week event; where attendees could see for themselves the result of hard work through studying and preserving original production techniques, blended with the introduction of new modern technology.

“If I’m going to call myself a clock maker, I decided we’re going to make pretty much all of the parts in-house for each clock, and we achieved that. A combination of traditional clock making and modern technology, allows us to produce a clock with soul and character.” Bob Bray, Managing Director, Sinclair Harding (UK) Ltd.

The maker of fine clocks, based in Emley, West Yorkshire, machine a remarkable 99% of their parts in-house which they state would not have been possible without their CAM Software, training and support. Despite continuing to use their previous CAM Software alongside, owing to their newer SolidCAM 5 Axis Simultaneous capabilities, they are now producing parts that they could only dream of before.

“Pre SolidCAM, we didn’t have the control over toolpaths and the operations like we do now. There are parts now that we wouldn’t dream of doing before! We can now make low quantity, decorative parts. SolidCAM allows us to control things like step overs, lead in, lead out, where we can get the best quality surface finish on something where traditionally you probably wouldn’t be-able to get a good finish.” Stuart Bray, Sinclair Harding (UK) Ltd.

Utilising SolidCAM, means that when they do all of their hand finishing, Sinclair Harding (UK) Ltd save a lot of “time”, and attendees to SolidCAM UK’s stand were able to discover the full benefits and wide variety of strategies that SolidCAM 5 Axis Simultaneous has to offer. The technology uses a user-friendly interface, collision checking and the most advanced control over all aspects of the toolpath. Flow line cutting produces a toolpath that follows the natural shape of the component, there is realistic full 3D machine simulation with comprehensive collision and axis limits checking, and Multi-surface finish machining keeps the tool normal to the surface (or with specified lead and lag) to provide a smooth surface finish.

SolidCAM UK believe that the perfect CAM solution not only involves the best software but also the best support. SolidCAM UK’s Technical and Post Processor support is praised by all of their customers including Sinclair Harding (UK) Ltd, and is a core philosophy of their company and is routinely enhanced to provide even faster support, directly where needed.

We were blown away with how quick support is at SolidCAM UK”, Bob Bray.

SolidCAM’s flagship patented and revolutionary SolidCAM iMachining is also utilised by Sinclair Harding (UK) Ltd,which isparticularly effective on hard and difficult to machine materials such as Inconel and Titanium, with itsproven cycle time savings of 70% and more compared to traditional machining solutions, as well as increased tool life by 5 times or more.

“Sinclair Harding (UK) Ltd represents quality and precision in the marketplace and SolidCAM UK are proud to be associated with this superior name, and we are excited to continue working with them for the foreseeable” Gordon Drysdale, Managing Director, SolidCAM UK Ltd.  At the MACH 2024 Exhibition, visitors were also able to see SolidCAM’s scalable software demonstrated, which supports ALL Milling and turning functionality, highlighting its powerful support for Advanced Mill-Turn machines including multi-turret, multi-spindle and Sliding Head (Swiss-Type) plus multi-channel synchronisation, fully integrated right inside the leading 3D CAD Systems, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor & Solid Edge.
