Good morning and welcome to this week’s Friday Brief! We hope you have had a wonderful week enjoying a little bit of sunshine! Summer is on it’s way!

Check out the first edition through the link in the story.

We have a bumper set of economic news for you this week, so rather than try to summarise the key points, this introduction is just a list of the topics you can find across three separate articles for ease of reference.  The UK piece includes the manufacturing output, GDP and business investment data for the 1st quarter of 2023, the European article looks at the manufacturing output and GDP data for that region and our “international” section covers the latest market data from the USA and the quarterly orders figures for Japanese manufacturers of metal cutting machines.

Finally, the April edition of the MTA Business Survey will be closing early next week but the online form at www.mta.org.uk/mta-business-survey-apr23 is still open for your input.  With thanks to those who have already replied, please take a couple of minutes to let us have your feedback as we build a summary picture of the manufacturing technology business.

That’s it for today! We hope you enjoy the Friday Brief this week and have a lovely weekend!
