The manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data released this week painted a mixed picture of both direction and level. The global average improved to exactly 50 with output increasing for the first time since July 2022. The UK also had a higher reading than in January – indeed, also the best since July 2022 – but it was still below the crucial 50 level, although there was also a small improvement in output for the first time in 8 months. Take a look at our story this week for more details on the winners and losers this month.
Finally, the MTA Business Survey for February was launched earlier this week and you can find the form at www.mta.org.uk/mta-business-survey-feb23 – we hope that all members can spare a couple of minutes to participate – we would love to hear from you.
That concludes the Friday Brief for this week! We hope you all have great weekends and we’ll be back with more news next week!
