It has been drawn to our attention that someone has been calling BSI committee members pretending to be BSI and requesting your confidential information.
Please be vigilant when answering calls from anyone claiming to be from BSI. We have recently been alerted of a recent spate of telephone calls during which the caller states that he is calling from BSI. The caller attempts to obtain confidential and commercially sensitive information. The questions asked have included requests for information such as the number of employees on site and the name of the factory/warehouse manager.
The caller has been saying that due to new government legislation he needs your information. The caller’s number is always withheld, and when asked for a contact telephone number, a false one has been given. The calls have been abusive, rude and offensive.
THESE CALLS ARE NOT MADE BY BSI OR BY ANY REPRESENTATIVE OF BSI.
Please note that the targets of the calls are random, but we have been made aware of committee members having received the calls. We have no reason to believe that Committee Members are being targeted. We sent you the message after having this reported to us by one or two Committee Members and we wanted to make sure that all Committee Members were informed so that they could take appropriate action should they receive a call.
Please refrain from providing the caller with any information.
