Comment period end date: 30/03/2022
Scope
This document complies with the ISO 22166-1 and CD 22166-201 family standards providing requirements and guidelines on specifications on modularity for service robots; in this context the document presents requirements and guidelines for an information model for software modules of service robots, where the information model relates to interoperability, reusability, and composability of software modules.
In particular, the document focuses on interfaces, properties, composition, and execution-specific information, which are related to software modules.
Purpose
This 202 document provides requirements and guidelines for information models of software modules to facilitate the following and defines a classification for different kinds of software modules for service robots:
– efficient data exchange between various kinds of software modules,
– easy integration of software modules,
– definition of the minimum functions (or interfaces) for the software modules that enable the service robot to achieve its intended use-case scenario,
– allow module designers and manufacturers to define and provide functions of software modules for achieving use case scenario requirements for service robots,
– provide users with appropriate software modules for use case scenarios of service robots with regard to the functions of the target robot.
For the active utilization of service robot modules and wide-spread expansion of service robot markets, it is necessary to share information of software modules allowing use and reuse for exchanging software modules while satisfying required interoperability, reusability, composability, safety, and security. The output of this document will accelerate the expansion of markets for service robot software and service robots, and also robot application services. In addition, developers, designers, and manufactures of service robots can utilize various types of software modules with ease and provide service robots more suitable for wide range of users.
